When I was a kid, receiving actual physical letters with a stamp on them was one of the best things in my young life. They tended to cluster around my birthday, and about nine out of ten had cold hard cash. As much as I loved birthday cards and cash, it was always extra special to receive a random letter. They were usually addressed to "Master Ivey Rhodes." Which, I still have no idea why children are called "master."
The funny thing is that today, I still get excited about receiving a letter. With digital communication being the default, a tangible non-spammy piece of mail is even more significant.
Imagine one day finding a letter addressed to you, that to your surprise, is from the Lord of the universe, Jesus Christ. You might assume it some sort of a prank, but when you open it you find Jesus really did write you a letter. It's contents are encouraging at some points, painful at others, and always challenging. What do you think Jesus would say to you?
This Sunday we start a brand new summer series in the Book of Revelation called "VII." This is a collection of seven letters to seven Asian churches written by Jesus himself (With John as his secretary). Each of these letters will be helpful both to you and to our church. Come see what Jesus writes to the churches.
See you tomorrow at 10 AM!
