Allie and I have a regular habit. After we put the kids to bed, we are exhausted. We collapse on our couches. Sometimes on the same one, other times on separate couches. Then we open our phones and let the blue glow of our screens usher us into oblivion.
By this point in the day, our brains are fried. Sometimes we are so tired we can't even hold a conversation. But we still communicate… through Instagram reels (I know, we're old. We don't have TikTok. We watch the recycled TikToks once they make it to Instagram). When one of us comes across a hilarious reel we share it with the other. Not by getting up and walking across the room. That would be way too much effort. We click the share button and wind up an entire telecommunication company to send it eight feet. Then I say in a monotone voice, "That one is hilarious." We both laugh. Then we share another, and another, and another. Sometimes this continues until bed. Does anyone else do this? Just us?
Sometimes after I’ve sent five (or thirty) videos, I start to get a little self-conscious and think, “I can’t share anymore. I’m going overboard.” But then a video hits just right. I can't stop myself; I have no choice but to share it!
Sharing is a part of life. It's how information is transferred. See a good movie, you tell people. Discover a new band, read an incredible book, or go to an amazing new restaurant, people must know! We are a sharing people because we want others to share in our joy.
Doesn't it make sense that when we have experienced the joy, peace, fullness, and satisfaction that comes with knowing and following Christ, we would want others to know? Tomorrow we will see that sharing our faith not only brings the hope of Christ to others but also deepens our own faith. I'd love for you to worship with us tomorrow as we seek to develop the habit of evangelism.
One more thing...
Speaking of sharing, below I've added an old video about the "Evangelism Linebacker". If you need a laugh, it's worth a watch. The Y2K fashion alone will have you chuckling.
