We Love Underdog Stories

Americans love underdog stories, and honestly, I'm not even sure why. There is something in the air that causes us to root for the underdogs. Some of the greatest movies are about Underdogs. Whether it be Rocky, Cinderella, Rudy, Karate Kid, or the women from Hidden Figures, we love them.

It is fascinating to realize that the Bible often elevates the underdog. Joseph went from left for dead in a hole to second in command of Egypt. Esther was the young nobody-woman who dared to confront a king and save her people. Moses was the stuttering runaway who led God's people out of Egypt. Mary was the poor young girl who birthed the Messiah. Jesus was the humble carpenter's son from a hick town who took away the sins of the world.

Tomorrow is no different. We meet a young boy that no one thought much about. This child was a shepherd boy named David. People may have ignored him because of his size and age, but God did not. While people were looking at the outside, God was looking at the heart. While his stature may have been small, his heart was beautiful.

Join us for worship tomorrow at 10 AM as we learn the importance of a heart oriented toward God. Then stay after service for our potluck lunch! If you haven't signed up yet, make sure you do that.
